Getting out of check: moving
If your king is in check, you must do something about it.
There are three ways to get out of check: moving away, blocking and capturing.
In this lesson, you will learn how to move out of check.
Have a look at the example:
It’s a close call, but it is not over yet.
The white king can still move forward one square.
Think hard if the other player has more than one piece near your king.
Which squares are safe?
In the second example, the king is driven to the edge of the board.
Going forward would place the king in check from the knight.
